Disappointed

Oh yeah. Hari Sukan=disappointment.

See, band. Band had been practicing for like a month and a half just for this performance on Hari Sukan. First ever formation show in the history of Hari Sukan as far as I know. It was nothing that big, just some entertainment during the break. Sort of like the advertisementson TV, if you will.

On the day before, I wasn't too bad at the last run through rehersal. It wasn't perfect and was far from it but it was fairly acceptable, I suppose. At least it had gotten a whole lot better than one month ago. Oh, and parade. We practiced parade for about half a month, but not as much as formation.

As you may expect, a lot of scolding had ensued during this time, but what do you expect? And as usual, I got pretty much a lot of it. Remember, I do things sloooow, like really slow. I talk slow, I eat slow, I learn slow. Heck, I bet I even breathe slow. Anyways, slow learner=lotsa scoldin' But honestly speaking, I heart the flute/flob section. Everyone in it is awesomesauce and they have a heck load of patience, crucial to teaching me.

Well, parade was fine and all. Got wrong legs again at the start but that was fixed soon enough. I think I played a little more than duing raptai. The national anthem and school song though, not so much. Incredibly, I am able to severely mess up the national anthem though the flutes play for like five bars. The school anthem was choppy-ish since I kept losing track.

Have I mentioned that the band uniforms are like heat insulators? The bomba uniforms too. Are all unit beruniform uniforms like that? Is it meant to make the person sweat and make them look like their exerting a lot of energy?

Anyways, on to the formation.

Lot of people came to support. Like my grandparents, Ying Ying, Ying Hui (no one else but you two and Daphne reads this blog, and I have a feeling Daphne thinks it's totally dead) and the ex-members came back too! I even received this message of encouragement this morning. It was apparently for the flobs.

Unfortunately, lots of supporters and encouragement does not mean good performance. Well, band as a whole was probably pretty good. Well, at least someone from the outside told me it was good... But I totally sucked. Period. I would like to add a 'but' there, but there isn't one. Totally disappointing especially since it was my first actual performance in band and Catholic.

I'm getting over it anyways. Lesson learned: the outcome isn't always what you expect it to be.

Mleh. Would probably get better luck next time. Next year.
